Fall Open House

For years I have been dreaming about having a barn and having my own Occasional Sale. Well, I don't have a barn but have decided to jump in and start with a sale in my home! Here is the information:

Rebecca, AKA The Pumpkin Lady, is a horticulturalist and will have some really cool pumpkins and gourds for sale. Heidi will have her awesome stained glass art, ornaments and whimsical pieces available. It really will be a sale for everyone and a great stop to kick off your holiday shopping! I hope you can make it!!!

July Flea Market

The weather threatened to turn this month's Flea Market into a repeat of last month's soggy, yucky day. But, it held out for all of us vendors until it was time to pack up around 3pm. We actually had a pretty nice day with a breeze and plenty of sunshine. The hubs and I helped set up tents the night before just in case and the yard looked really beautiful with all the colorful wares, if you didn't make it try for August 27th at JB Knacker in Gilbert, IA!!!

Local Artist Boutique

Sneak Peek

I have been working on getting licensed to make Iowa State University jewelry and found out a couple of weeks ago that I was approved! I was so excited and relieved! The paper work is much more than I was expecting both during and after approval.  I am all set with some great designs and am now waiting for the official labels I have to add to the hang tags.

Lisa Leonard Necklace

It's been two weeks since The Creative Connection Event and I am still so excited about my time there and can't stop talking about it! I've been telling everyone I know and meet that they need to save the date for next year. My sister agreed she will go with me for the whole weekend!! I cannot wait!


One of the artists that was in the handmade market was Lisa Leonard. I have been a big fan of hers for a couple years since I found her on the blog Melissa the Mouth. I haven't bought anything for myself because I just can't decide what to get, there are so many beautiful pieces.

Thursday night of TCC we had an amazing dinner and were given our swag bags-that were totally awesome! Next to our plates were cute little boxes with a beautiful Lisa Leonard necklace custom made for the event. That is like four hundred necklaces she gave away-what a sweet woman with a generous, giving spirit!! I am not surprised as I have followed her blog and gotten a glimpse into her life.

Check her out and do a little holiday shopping at her site. I've given these as wedding gifts with great appreciation from the recipients. They're so beautiful and personal-you can be sure they don't already have it!

Forever and Ever- The End

Yesterday I went on and on about how I met my husband and the story behind why I made this; so you can check out yesterday's post if you want the history.

Here is what I made:

I found this old cupboard door at my favorite store, JB Knacker, and wasn't sure what to do with it until this came to me.

First, I laid out the letters to see which combination I liked best. I found my letters at JB Knacker and the Junk Bonanza and substituted chip board letters if I couldn't find ones I needed. As you can see from this picture and the finished product I changed my mind and rearranged a bit.

Next, I had to use some Goo Gone to clean off some old scotch tape.

Next I painted the chip board letters and colored the metal letters so they would show up.

Because I change my mind so much I attached the letters with Handi-Tak so that if I wanted to change a letter out or rearrange the letters I could.

That's it, super fun and easy! Here are some close up pictures:

He loved it and now I am just waiting for him to help hang it up because it is HEAVY!!
